16-Year-Old Rapper Lil Purk Apologizes After 20-Year Murder Sentence
Lil Purk has been found guilty of a double murder that dates back to last year and he’s been sentenced to 20 years behind bars for his involvement in the crime.
On Friday (December 15), 11Alive News reported that the 16-year-old rapper (real name Jamal Jones) is being sent to prison for the fatal shootings of 12-year-old Zyion Charles and 15-year-old Cameron Jackson.
The incident took place in November 2022 in Atlanta, leaving four others injured in addition to the two minors mentioned above who tragically passed away.
“To all my family and fans I would like to sincerely apologize to y’all and to all the younger generation looking up to me,” Purk wrote on his Instagram Stories soon after his ruling. “Let me and my situation be a lesson learned for our whole generation everything not what it seem and I’m still pleading my innocence I love you lil hot and to the families hurt by this situation forgive me also still keeping faith alive 43va.”
Derouen, who is related to Beyoncé through their grandmother, also had a burgeoning rap career under the name Kantone before he was shot and killed in January 2021.

Skare was also offered a plea deal for 20 years in prison, which she rejected before being sentenced to 55 years in late August.
The Texas rapper previously testified that she didn’t mean to kill Derouen, and that the two had gotten into a fight that quickly spun out of control and ultimately led to his death. Prosecutor Ashley Jones, however, was not buying her explanation.
“The defendant knew exactly what she was doing,” she said. “[Skare] was banging on the door to get Martell to come and deal with her, and then she shot him. That is murder.”
