Top 8 return to Limerick for March 22 and 23 for their 2025 Hip Hop & Street Dance Festival across city centre venues

In 2025, Top 8, who have been organising hugely successful Hip Hop events for the last decade, are presenting their Hip Hop & Street Dance Festival with a weekend of events taking place indoor and outdoor locations across and around Limerick city 22nd – 23rd March.
The group is inviting everyone of all ages, cultural backgrounds and ethnicities for the festival run in association with Limerick City and County Council.
On Saturday 22nd March, festival favourite ‘Top 8 Street Dance Battle’ returns to Limerick following sold-out performances in Dublin and Limerick in previous years. This powerhouse event will see the freshest street dancers from Ireland and abroad square off to do battle on the dance floor.
Having competed in qualifying heats earlier in the day, finalists will flaunt their best moves, from precision poppin’, from the social dance moves of Hip Hop, freestyle movements of All Styles, to gravity-defying Breakin’ to claim the top spot.
This epic celebration of street dance and Hip Hop culture will be hosted by MCs, with pumping beats from DJs such as Onai and DJ Snuff, and feature mind blowing showcases by international street dance legends such as Munirat and Artis. The qualifying heats will take place outside Arthurs Quay Park and are free to the general public. The finals will take place in Dance Limerick, tickets are required and available online.
The second half of the day will commence in The Record Room, with a social gathering for audiences over the age of 18 years. Invited DJs and Rap artists will be showcased to provide the best of Hip-Hop and world music. The line-up includes 0phelia and Jus’Me. 0phelia, a rapper from Dublin’s East Wall, living in Cork, who’s true passions are love, soul and theatricality, will have the crowd collectively rocking to her lyrics.

Justin O’Donnell, better known as DJ Jus’Me, has honed his craft as a skratchologist in his own right before being part of globe-trotting funk outfit The Impressionists. Jus’Me plays an eclectic mix of Hip Hop, R&B, Classic Soul and more, mixed with pitch perfect blends and sharp cuts, the DJ’s DJ who never forgot about the crowd.
Throughout the weekend, renowned street artists from all over the world come to Limerick to make their mark, and what they leave behind are vibrant, evocative, uniting murals and messages. Graffiti and street artists Moami, Lulu and Kone, will be painting live murals, outdoors in the heart of Limerick city at Arthurs Quay. People will be able to learn about cans, brush control and fonts, tags and styles – no booking required.
Deborah O’Connor of Top 8 says, “We’re really excited about this programme, which is giving everyone access to amazing artists from all these different elements of Hip-Hop culture – DJ-ing, MC-ing, Graffiti & Street Dance – a culture which has incredible potential to better the lives of our communities. With our partners we’re working to further authentically develop the ever-growing and vibrant Street Dance and Hip-Hop culture here in Ireland.”
