Banksy confirms tree mural is his work

Anonymous graffiti artist Banksy has confirmed he is the creator of the tree painting mural that appeared in London on Sunday.

The artist uploaded a series of pictures to his Instagram showing the wall before and after it was painted.

Banksy’s confirmation excited residents in Finsbury Park where the tree was painted.

“It feels like a personal message to us residents, we just feel so proud,” said Wanja Sellers who lives near to the mural.

Banksy is a world-famous artist, best known for his graffiti work.

A lot of his graffiti work appears overnight, as the artist chooses to remain anonymous.

While he largely paints in the UK, his work has appeared around the world, including in the US, France and Ukraine.

His work often has a political or social message; in 2018 the artist made headlines when one of his paintings automatically shredded itself after being sold.
