Kissimmee doesn’t exactly scream hip hop, but one of the industry’s icons actually calls the community home.

DJ Cut Creator was LL Cool J’s right-hand man.

He said, “We grew up two blocks away from each other. I’ve known him since he was 12-13 years old. He was like a little brother to me.”

He said LL was a hyper kid and that he always wanted to rap, but one time he let him and he realized, “Yo, this kid is good.”

When LL Cool J got signed to a recording label he brought DJ Cut Creator with him.

The rapper even made a tribute song for the DJ, that said “What’s my DJ’s name? Cut Creator!” and performed it on stages around the world.

DJ Cut Creator described it this way, “It’s an amazing feeling when people in different countries that don’t even speak English know it.”

Looking back on his time performing with LL Cool J, DJ Cut Creator said he will never forget the first time they performed on Soul Train and in 2021 when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

These days he still DJs, but from his home base in Kissimmee.
