Deep house DJ adds South African sound in his DJing school

Deep house DJ Miggs Foreal’s DJing school, Foreal House Music Academy, now offers hip hop and amapiano DJ courses.

The DJ, whose real name is Eutrice Motsepe, launched the school in Pretoria in 2020.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DJ Miggs said he decided to add the genres to his course at his academy because of the demand from parents enrolling their children at his school.

“I found when parents enrol their children they also have references of top South African DJs, such as Uncle Waffles, DJ Zinhle, DBN Gogo, and Ms Cosmo, and those are DJs that play amapiano, so I had to adjust as a deep house DJ and learn how the genre is being produced and played so I could teach my students the dynamics. Most of the walk-ins at the academy, it’s about those genres which I wasn’t offering.”

DJ Miggs has also been making changes in his business and personal life.

Late last year the Garankuwa-born DJ opened up about his drug addiction and turning a new leaf in staying away from the habit.

He told TshisaLIVE that as he has partnered with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), it was important to teach his students not to do drugs and about the damage that comes with the habit.

“Since I’m with the NYDA, we are doing the mentorship programmes and those are for upcoming artists, DJs or designers to start their own business and not to tap into drugs.

“We are trying by all means to encourage our students. From time to time I invite Oscar Mbo and Eno Soul to motivate the students to be busy with their craft as DJs, which also is a business.”
