Rap Shar3 is a video platform that spotlights up-and-coming rappers and street performers from across the MENA region. The series has been actively exploring one core factor of hip-hop music, which is street rap – an essential facet of the genre that has always been at the core of hip-hop culture.
Founded by BlackB, the series has featured some rappers that eventually permeated the mainstream rap scene with the likes of Egyptian rapper Muhab and Sudan’s Hyper249, among many others. In recent months, Rap Shar3 explored the local hip-hop scene in different parts of the region including Egypt (where the platform was founded), Sudan, Palestine and Saudi Arabia, and continues to shed light on local rappers and give them a platform to showcase their talents.
We’ve selected some of the best performances from the series since it began, featuring Muhab from Egypt, Saudi’s DJ Mubarak and Hyper249.
