An up-and-coming amapiano and hip-hop DJ, Neymar Mathinhe, stage name ‘DJ Groovey’, is driven by her love of music and good times, and aims to be the best.
“Being a DJ is a dream come true. I was taught how to DJ by local DJs, and my own drive is to be one of the best in Pienaar. I am learning how to produce so I can achieve my dream of making my own music,” she said.

The 23-year-old DJ from Msogwaba is influenced by the internationally renowned young DJ, Uncle Waffles, and hopes to have the same influence as she does.
“I ventured into music in 2023. I have played at events around my community and hope I will play at bigger events. My love of music drove me to becoming a DJ. I am the only one who loves music at home, but my family has showed me support to pursue a career in music, which I hope will be successful,” Mathinhe said.
As a way to make an impact in the entertainment industry, she founded a dance group called House of Groovey in Msogwaba, which caters for youngsters and gives them a safe space to entertain themselves through various kinds of dances.

She said she hopes to make music with industry greats such as Aymos and Mawhoo.
