“After about 20-something to 30-something f—-ups and mistakes, me and my engineer have finally figure out how to record music over the jail phone and still keep the quality as professional as I had it on the street,” he said in a recorded call posted to his Instagram on Wednesday (July 24).

“It’s over. I done cracked the f—ing code, man. This means that not even these prison walls can stop me from dropping new music. It’s crazy!

“That being said, I’m about to start dropping hot heaps of coal on y’all head top. I’m dropping the all new ‘Free Tory’ playlist – it’s gon’ be updated every week with new music that I’m recording from prison in real time. This is the first of its kind and although God has already shown me that this moment is only temporary, it speaks testimony to the fact that no matter where they put me, they can’t lock down my spirit, my ambition, my soul my passion nor my destiny!”

Tory Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, though he is appealing his conviction.

The incident occurred after the two rappers had a drunken argument following a party hosted by Kylie Jenner in July 2020. Tory has consistently claimed his innocence but chose not to testify during the trial. His appeal challenges the “Erroneous Admission of Evidence” and “Prosecutorial Misconduct,” but the motion has been postponed to give the prosecution time to review it.

Megan Thee Stallion didn’t appear at the hearing for Lanez’s sentencing last year but Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta did read a pre-written statement from the rapper that day after his conviction.

In the statement, the Houston native blasted Tory for spinning false narratives about the shooting and making light of her “trauma” in music releases. As a result, she said she had “not experienced a single day of peace” since the shooting.

“He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma,” Megan wrote. “He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul.

“He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media. He released music videos and songs to damage my character and continue his crusade.”
