NBA YoungBoy Receives Prison Sentence In Federal Gun Possession Case

YoungBoy Never Broke Again has received his sentence in the federal gun case he’s been battling for more than four years, placing the rapper one step closer to resolving his ongoing legal issues.

On Monday (Sept. 9), Bradford Cohen, YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s attorney, shared the news of the latest development in his client’s case with his followers on Instagram. The lawyer, who also represents rap star Kodak Black, took joy in his previous prediction that YoungBoy Never Broke Again would likely dodge a lengthy sentence coming to fruition.

“Being right is a bad habit of mine,” Cohen wrote in the caption of a post of a photo of the Baton Rouge native smirking in court. “Global plea 27 months…will be out with credit time served in prob 12 months…lawyer did a nice job with resolving the matter successfully.”

In addition to his prison term, YoungBoy Never Broke Again will also have to serve five years probation as part of his plea agreement. His sentence comes after his federal gun case was moved from his home state of Louisiana to Utah.

YoungBoy Never Broke again pleaded guilty to illegal firearms possession as a convicted felon last month, a charge stemming from a 2020 incident in which he was one of 16 people arrested at a music video shoot in Louisiana. He was indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record the following year, a charge that was later dismissed.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s legal issues have continued throughout the years, as he was slapped with prescription drug fraud charges on two occasions, first in April and again in May. The rapper also picked up two gun charges in 2024, the first in May and the second coming this past month.
