Goldfields’ best set the dance floor ablaze at competition

During the Clash of the Titans dance competition, dancers of Amanda’s School of Dance took 36 places in the top five spots across the different categories.

This is an annual stage-based and prestigious competition, originating in the heart of the Goldfields and is open to all dancers and studios. The live event took place at the end of August in Kroonstad at the Civic Theatre.

Dancers could compete in solo, duet, trio, and group events either live or virtually.

Of Amanda’s School of Dancing seven stood out amongst their peers, taking first places in their respective categories.

Two dancers brought home two first places each. They are Novelle Potgieter for Acro and also for excelling with a first place win in Hip Hop, and Allia Fourie who brought home two first place victories for Acro and Lyrical.

Five dancers brought home first place wins, combined with top five achievements in other categories. They are Rose Robertson (Hip Hop and a third in Acro), AC Claassen (Hip Hop), Shané Coetzer (Jazz and a second in Hip Hop), Miné Maritz (Acro and a fourth in Contemporary), and Lize Conradie (Musical Theatre and a fifth in Acro).

One of the group, Elissa du Plooy, brought home a second place for Musical Theatre. She also obtained a fifth place for Hip Hop.

Nine dancers obtained third places, and some of them also earned top places in other categories. Tshegofatso Moroenyane attained two third positions for Acro and Hip Hop. The other third position placings are Anke Muller (Acro), Evan Pristl (Hip Hop), Janie Vivier (Jazz), Imke Scholtz (Open Section), and Ivanka Muller (Musical Theatre).

Three dancers attained third position placings with one other top position. They are Leané van der Walt (Hip Hop and fourth place Acro), Linkas Myburgh (Tap Dance and fifth place Jazz), and Nicole Stroebel (Modern and fifth place Musical Theatre).

Fourth places were obtained by Minei Vivier (Acro), Leané van der Walt (Hip Hop an a fifth place Acro), and Manana Mphanya (Acro).

Fifth places were obtained by Zurika Smith (Ballet), Kayleen de Lange (Hip Hop), and Zoe van Biljon (Acro).
