Veteran Hip-Hop Producer DJ Clark Kent Passes Away After Battling Colon Cancer

Pete Rock commented on the Instagram post, “i have known you since i was 13. Taking the train all the way to brooklyn just to come practice and dj with you. From rooftop union square latin quarter & madison square garden hanging out with. DJing on the radio with you. You showing me dj routines in my house in the basement. i knew you was the right person to be around if i wanted to sharpen my skills. Thank you for all that you have taught me fam and the special memories but i am heartbroken fam but you accoplished so much then went off to be one of brooklyns finest producers ever. Rest In Power champ. You just around me now in a different form angel. 🙏🏾💔 Respect 4ever Champ.” 

Questlove wrote, “Clark will forever be the culture.” Rapper Foxy Brown said, “LOVE YOU KESH! MY BIG COUSIN WHO STARTED ALL THIS SH– FOR US! WE LOVE YOU TONY!” 

Kent began his career in Brooklyn in the 1980s where he worked as a DJ for rapper Dana Dane. His notable works include 1995’s hit single Player’s Anthem, later the next year he produced Jay-Z’s debut album Reasonable Doubt. In 2001, he worked with Mariah Carey on her hit single ‘Loverboy’ from the Glitter soundtrack. During his career, Kent worked with artists like Queen Latifah, Ye, Redman, 50 Cent, and Estelle.
