Twoface Media has been bringing out a lot of underground Hip Hop heat since it’s conception out of the Wisconsin peninsula. Artists include Space Kase/Jester Exodus, Pestilence, Lobotomized Geniuses, DW Underground, Chump Service, a dark path, Ben Luten, Sheol Dynasty, V.A.D., and the new addition Marz One. It is an underappreciated collective, to be sure. They make nothing but good music that is for the Hip Hop culture and points out some deep discussion worthy topics. They all sharpen their respective crafts in Hip Hop and work with artists of a high caliber all over the international and national map.
The album we are going to take a dive into today is ‘Beanz And Blarz‘, which is a duo of Space Kase and Pestilence on the mic and includes a plethora of elite MCs and producers hand-picked with excellence. They call themselves Rat Nest Regicide.
The intro ‘A Behavioral Sink‘ spotlights a study done upon rats (bear with me, these guys are abstract creators on this one and it is dope AF) that shows the problems of over population that are quite like our own, a likelihood of violence, hyper sexuality, and high infant mortality. It’s crazy how it mirrors our own and is the basis of the comparison and meat behind the subject matter of from some of the songs in this work of art.
‘A Little More Or Less‘ is a dope intro lyrical effort full of schemes and lyrics produced by Jester Exodus who also leads the track on the first verse (he’s Space Kase as an MC and Jester Exodus as a producer). It goes to Pestilence next who just goes off with schemes and cadence that are bananas. Then the two other MCs Urban Legend and Taiyamo Denku feature on this track from Cyphaden Music (Pestilence is also a member, all coming out of Wisconsin as well) come in with a back and forth that is a lyrical treat. I gathered that the Hip Hop game is oversaturated with MCs and these guys are here to regicide these fools.
‘Angry Red Brick‘ is a bar heavy song that both these guys lace up the gloves and hit the heavy bag on. Pestilence talks about regicide in the drug game, further supporting my concept theories. Iron Emperor puts in the work to conclude the song. Tap Daddy puts in the work on the instrumentation to create the soundscape. ‘Beanz and Blarz‘, Restless M.I.N.D. takes the production on this one. It is a comical song that is full of punchlines and schematics that is all over the place. It made me crack up a few times.
‘Bling Of The Kock‘ is my favorite beat off the whole project, the beat is insane especially with the “doots” and they surround it with another bar heavy track that shows their vocab skills with a laid back fluid flow. Tapped is Tap Daddy for the beat in this one as well.
All in all this project is well produced and dope lyricism. They talk about how the rap game is over populated and they come to kill these undeserving kings. Who are the kings of the underground these days? There are so many people, but these guys work with a lot of underground artists so I think they are here to point out who you should really listen to because if they aren’t at their level are they even worth listening to? They really only like to work with those that are of the same elite level that they are and this is well-respected by someone like myself who listens to so much Hip Hop a month. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you a more deep dive. I have heard this album probably 10+ times already but it is 18 songs and has a lot to unpack. I’ll let you guys take it from here. There is such a dope lineup of artists on producers on this one, don’t sleep, burn the damn pillow.
