Near the left side of Barry train station, a new local mural has appeared.
The graffiti which reads ‘Barry’ in bubble font embodies the towns seaside heritage and pays homage to Barry Island with a colourful display of Welsh and seaside themed sketches within the writing.
Artwork includes the Welsh dragon, Porthkerry Viaduct, a steam train, two seaside seagulls and the Merrie Friars building on Barry Island promenade. The writing reads: “Croeso i Barry” which translates into English as “Welcome to Barry.”
A large seagull decked out in sunglasses as part of mural warns travellers to “Stay off the tracks!”
Online reaction to the mural has been overwhelmingly positive.
One user wrote: “Lovely to see a splash of colour on grey days.”
Another said: “Anybody would think it was a seaside resort. Love it.”
The mural was signed in the bottom right corner by artist ‘Peaceful Progress’ who we’ve reached out to for a comment.
