Phoenix artist Jordan Dale Quimayousie, born in December 1990, is facing criminal charges after being indicted by a grand jury for graffiti along the 19th Avenue Corridor. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office reports that he has allegedly tagged various structures and public fixtures, causing over $57,000 in damages.
Authorities took action against Quimayousie due to serious accusations, tagging property with aliases that residents recognized as vandalism. Despite his intentions, he now faces consequences. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced that Quimayousie has been charged with one count of Criminal Damage, a Class Four felony, and two counts of Aggravated Criminal Damage, Class Six felonies, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
Jordan Dale Quimayousie is currently held on a $50,000 cash-only bond after being indicted for graffiti along the 19th Avenue Corridor. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office states that “a criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.” The court will review the evidence against Quimayousie, as his artwork is now part of the legal process, illustrating the line between street art and vandalism.
