DJ Premier and Roc Marciano have shared new single ‘Armani Section’.
Out now, the single leads into a full collaborative project, with an EP slated for release this year. The two hip-hop heavyweights have known one another for years, and it took a chance encounter on a shopping trip for a studio conversation to be struck up.
Out now, ‘Armani Section’ is the first fruits of their labours. A titan in hip-hop production, DJ Premier remains at the forefront through audio honesty – he’s developed a certain style, while being unafraid to incorporate new elements.
Roc Marciano is a crucial figure in rap’s development, and his swaggering performance gives ‘Armani Section’ its sheen.
“True Story. Several years ago I was shopping at Macy’s in Herald Square and I was passing the “Armani Section,” when I see Roc Marci there and he asks me when are we gonna do a record together” Premier recalls. “I told him we would eventually get to it. Fast forward a few years later, right before Christmas 2024, I gave him a call and told him it was time to get to it. I reminded him of that day, and he said that should be the title of the record. The tone was officially set.”
For his part, Roc Marciano adds: “’Armani Section is gutter and expensive. Everything you’d expect from a Preemo and Marci joint…”
