The worst graffiti hotspots in Bexley according to FixMyStreet reports

Reports from FixMyStreet, an online platform where residents can log local problems for council attention, reveal that some locations see persistent tagging, “gang-related” graffiti, and offensive markings.

Despite the efforts by the council to keep the borough graffiti free, problems still keep arising.

Of the 2,176 reports logged, 1,266 have been marked as fixed, while 546 were closed, often because the graffiti was on private property.

These areas have received multiple reports over time, making them some of the borough’s worst-hit graffiti hotspots.

Here are some of the locations where a cluster of reports have been made:

Welling

Park View Road and Sharnbrooke Close

  • This area has been a frequent target for graffiti, with reports highlighting repeated vandalism along public walkways and walls.
    • One report reads: “Graffiti has appeared on the white wall above the garage entrance doors in the public walkway that leads from the back of Sharnbrooke Close to the main road.”
    • Reported January 3.

Belgrove Road and Surrounding Streets

  • There are multiple reports of gang-related tagging and graffiti covering public spaces, including murals.
    • One report reads: “Gang tags defacing the mural art on walkway tunnel.”
    • Reported November 3.
  • Central Avenue has also been flagged as a recurring problem area.

Hook Lane and Surrounding Areas

Hook Lane and Lancelot Road Footpath

  • This footpath has seen numerous graffiti reports, often involving offensive markings and repeat vandalism.
    • One report reads: “Offensive graffiti on the door of disused public toilet in public park Lamorbey Park.”
    • Reported September 18.

Burnt Oak Lane

  • The area near the Youth Centre has been repeatedly targeted, with public recycling bins and surrounding walls covered in graffiti.
    • One report reads: “Graffiti has appeared this week on the bottle recycling bins by the Youth Centre on Burnt Oak Lane.”
    • Reported October 4.

Sidcup

Sidcup High Street and Nesbitt Walk

  • A well-known hotspot for graffiti, with repeated incidents reported on shopfronts and public walkways.
    • One report reads: “There is black graffiti with offensive language on walls in Nesbitt Walk opposite the shops. One set is on the white painted wall and the other on the brick wall on the courtway to the back of the shops.”

  • The now-closed Halifax branch at 66 High Street has also been a repeated target.
    • One report reads: “There is also black graffiti on the closed Halifax branch at 66 High Street, DA14 6AS.”

Marten Groves Park

  • Playground equipment in this park has been vandalised, with graffiti covering play areas and making some equipment unusable.
    • One report reads: “Graffiti that is offensive is all over the playground. There’s also spray paint all over the large slide making it unusable.”
    • Reported November 2.

A20 and Public Subways

A20 Roundabout (Chislehurst Road and Sidcup Bypass)

  • Graffiti has been repeatedly reported on the concrete walls of the roundabout at this major junction.
    • One report reads: “There is graffiti on the concrete walls of the roundabout at the junction of Chislehurst Road and Sidcup Bypass / A20. There are two tags that need removal.”
    • Reported September 25.

Queen Mary’s Hospital Subway

  • A recurring location for graffiti, with reports of vandalism at the subway entrance and inside the tunnel itself.
    • One report reads: “Graffiti on entrance to northeast/QMH subway… entering subway from inside the roundabout.”
    • Reported September 8.

Bexley Council states that it will remove graffiti from council-owned property within seven working days, while racist or offensive graffiti will be removed within 24 hours and reported to the police.

If graffiti is on private property but visible from a public space, the council offers a removal service. Local traders and residents’ groups can also request graffiti removal kits.
