RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW MYSTIC XPERIENZ

What made you decide that music is the thing for you?

In my young teen years a friend gave me a NWA tape. When I first heard “100 miles and running” I was blown away by how straight forward the lyrics were. I never heard anything like it. Right there I knew HipHop was something I needed in my life.

Introduce us to you and your musical history.

Well I am Mystic Xperienz aka “The Hip Hop Rasta” a conscious, deep storyteller with a strong passion for hip hop culture.

My musical history:

Raised by my grandparents I grew up in a semi Latin household, they always listened to Latin Caribbean music like: salsa, mariachi and the traditional music from Curaçao. Over the years artists like Micheal Jackson caught my interest and around the early 90’s Hip hop became part of my life!

What’s the live music scene like where you are based right now?

It can be way better but I am glad I get to see the veterans of hiphop in action when they come to do a concert in The Netherlands or Belgium. They sound like how they did in the 90’s and that is how I like to do my shows as well.

Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?

Besides Mystic Xperienz? Yes, Illmatic Bandits A hip hop duo, who are also on my EP GUIDE’Z with the track “How’s done”

I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for support recently online. What’s your view on the industry?

I think the industry is overloaded. Everyone wants to be the next big thing with or without talent. Almost everything is online these days and “going viral” is the next paycheck.

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

I am an independent artist so I will not be “out there” like others. I am like a ghost “now you see me, now you don’t” lol.

Tell us two truths and a lie about you.

Two truths: I am a grandfather of 5 and the one and only “Hip Hop Rasta”

A lie: I smoke weed and drink alcohol

Do you ever worry about people taking things the wrong way or cancel culture?

No not really, I live in my truth and I am sure there are people out there that agree with my lyrics or message.

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories? No If not, why not?

I am not into conspiracy theories. If the truth is out there it will come out when it needs to i will not chase it.

What was your best experience on stage?

Being a support act for the legendary hip hop group Gang starr in a sold out Paradiso Amsterdam November 18th 2003.

What was your worst experience on stage?

I don’t really have one, well i have not experienced one yet, I LOVE being on stage!

Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.

That i am a Grandfather.

What are the next steps you plan to take as an artist to reach the next level?

Bring my passion for hip hop to the stage!!!

I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?

I brought out my EP on February 19th called GUIDE’Z. A fresh breath of 90’s hip hop in a new jacket.

What was the recording process like?

Making music and recording with “The Grinder” was a natural process “like a glove”.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

Raising the bar higher every track I wrote.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

No!

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Embrace the GUIDE’Z EP! Lol
