Bet you didn’t have Suge Knight on your Beyoncé and Jay-Z defense bingo card. Whelp, that’s what happened when uncarcerated music mogul Marion “Suge” Knight let that very stance be know. He has become increasingly vocal about hip-hop controversies from behind bars, with his latest target being Kanye West’s recent attacks on Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s children. During a no-holds-barred interview on The Art of Dialogue podcast, the former Death Row Records CEO condemned Ye’s derogatory comments about the couple’s 7-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir Carter.
Yikes. Should Ye worry about getting too close to balconies while holding his publishing deal? Joking.
“I need to holla at Kanye,” Knight stated firmly. “We never, never disrespect no one’s kids. You don’t talk about JAY and Beyoncé’s children and call them ‘rtarded.’ That’s what we won’t do. It’s real consequences for those type of actions.”
The incarcerated former executive said:
“I hold people in Hip-Hop, people in our community, to higher standards than that. We came a long way as Black people, as slaves, not to protect people’s kids or people that are disabled. That’s not funny to me, not one bit.”
Knight went on calling Ye a “bih” and suggesting he “needs an old-fashioned a-whooping.” However, he reserved praise for Beyoncé, applauding her cultural impact:
“What Beyoncé does for Hip-Hop and the community of our people, that woman works really, really hard. Her sister, her whole family is good people.”
Kanye ignited backlash earlier this month with a since-deleted X (formerly Twitter) rant where he cruelly targeted the Carter children:
“WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCES YOUNGER KIDS. THEYRE RTARDED. NO LIKE LITERALLY. AND THIS IS WHY ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IS A BLESSING. HAVING RTARDED CHILDREN IS A CHOICE.”
He later doubled down in another post, mocking his own removal of the comments:
“I TOOK IT DOWN LIKE DOWN SYNDROME. GET IT. AM I RIGHT. FK THE WORLD. REAL TALK. FK EEEEVVEEERREEE BODY.”
