Akademiks Claims Drake Gave Young Thug $1 Million In Cash After Post-Prison Visit

In June 2023, Drake joined Young Thug on “Parade On Cleveland” from his album Business Is Business and stated that the latter’s release from jail would cause a huge celebration in Atlanta. DJ Akademiks recently claimed that the 38-year-old rapper somewhat lived up to that assertion mere hours after Thug was permitted to go home after his long RICO trial.

“Y’all want to hear this play I heard?” the controversial media personality said during a recent live stream. “Watch, he gon’ hit me up, like, ‘Yo, how you heard?’ ‘Cause he ain’t tell me. That’s my mans. When Thug gets let out of jail, the talk is this: they say two hours afterwards, Drake flew to Thug and allegedly gave him a mil’. Drake didn’t tell me this. Drake gon’ hit me up and be, like, ‘Who told you this?’”

Neither Thugger nor Drizzy have spoken up to confirm this, however, Ak has often not been wrong lately regarding the duo. He was a primary source of information during the 6 God’s feud with Kendrick Lamar and knew when new music was coming. Time will tell if this major act of generosity is true, but it wouldn’t be a shock given the “Ice Melts” duo’s relationship.

Drake and Young Thug have been collaborating since 2017 on songs like “Sacrifices,” “D4L,” “Solid,” “Bubbly,” and “Oh U Went.” The For All The Dogs rapper was one of the most vocal rappers about wanting the Atlanta enigma freed from jail since he was first arrested in 2022. “Free Big Slime out the cage,” he rapped on “Sticky.”

Most recently, on their “It’s Up” track with 21 Savage from this past August, he rapped, “I can’t sleep at night with Thug at Cobb County Corrections/ I think he did enough reflectin’, I think my brother learned his lesson.” In October, the father of one revealed that he was financially supporting the Young Stoner Life leader throughout his trial. “I ain’t talking to talk man I really put up [bread emoji] on the [briefcase emoji] 3 Jeff,” he wrote in an Instagram story.

Thug reciprocated that energy last month, calling for peace between Drake, Metro Boomin, and Future on X. “We all bruddas. Music aint the same without us collabin,” he wrote while tagging all three stars. Perhaps Thug will be the glue to bringing those collaborators back together and some great music will come in the process.
