Warm up well, and get ready for battle: the Grand Palais hosts the All World Waacking Battle 2vs2 on July 12, 2025.

Waacking has been a fixture at shows and parties in Paris for several years now. Originating in the 1970s in gay clubs in the United States, waacking was revived in the 2000s. The dance is inspired by hip-hop, Afro-American and Latino styles, as well as the poses of movie stars, which are imitated and exaggerated in big, fast movements.

Today, waacking is very popular and practiced by professional dancers and amateurs alike. In Paris nightclubs, bars and even museums, people enjoy these impressive performances.

This summer, the Grand Palais is also getting into the dance, with an unusual and unmissable day on July 12, 2025. Fans of dance shows and performances won’t want to miss the All World Waacking Battle 2vs2: an event that pits dancers from all over the world against each other in a dynamic and festive show.

To orchestrate this special day, the Grand Palais called on choreographer Josépha Madoki. Specializing in waacking, her influences range from classical and contemporary dance to the urban arts. Josépha Madoki, also known as Princess Madoki, is organizing a major dance battle immersing us in the culture and different forms of waacking.

This event is the opening show of the Paris l’été Festival, an annual event that transforms the capital into a giant concert hall.
