Arthur Baker is publishing his memoir.
Out next March through Faber, Looking for the Perfect Beat: Remixing and Reshaping Hip-Hop, Rock and Rhythms explores the legendary producer and remixer’s colossal influence on popular music. The 400-page book documents Baker’s rise from the clubs of his native Boston to his production work with some of the biggest names in the industry, including New Order, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross and The Rolling Stones.
“I’m still driven by the joy of seeing people in a club react to hearing music I’ve written for the first time,” he said. “And I’m still looking for the perfect beat.”
