DJ TRIPPLE-X is PNG’s #1 RNB & HIP-HOP DJ, and at 32 years of age is headlining PNG’s party Capital “The Gold Club” and is no stranger in the Entertainment industry.
Tripple-X started off as a construction worker at Lamana Hotel in 2008; but was quick to impress his superiors and was approached by the General Manager, Yiannis Nicolau to train as a lighting operator and as a DJ at the Gold Club late in November the same year.
During that time, he worked with legends of the circuit, in the likes of DJ ZAAH, DJ JB, DJ KINZ, Akay-47, DJ LEE, DJ TRAVY, DJ BOTZ and DJ Diitroid all the while training as a lighting/pyrotechnics operator and was mentored by Bernard Watkinz (DJ KINZ).
As he was a 17-year-old at the time, life was tough and he needed to master the art of DJing; so, he spent most of his time familiarizing himself with the DJ equipment and job training at Lamana hotel.
As a DJ, TRIPPLE-X would practice each night to learn the fundamentals of mixing, blending and scratching. He was privileged to have been mentored by DJ OWE from Queensland, Australia; one of Australia’s top headliners and while under his watchful eyes, had proper training on the current DJ System called “Serato”; and besides AK47, is the only other male in the country to master the art of mixing & scratching on actual turntables/vinyl.
These are the achievements of DJ TRIPPLE-X: Winner of 2012 super DJ comp sponsored by cougar (the gold club); Winner of 2013 Niugini ice DJ king competition (the gold club); 2nd runner up 2014 Niugini ice DJ king competition (the gold club; Winner of 2015 ice DJs King Competition (the gold club); Winner of the BU DJ competition in 2020 at (the Cosmopolitan) sponsored by Coca Cola Amatil; Supporting DJ for Naka Mania (PNG’s first underground hip-hop fest); Supporting DJ for Scribe (International artist); Supporting DJ for Savage (international artist); Supporting DJ for Justin Wellington (PNG/International artist); Supporting DJ for Pieter T (International artist)
His recent backing of Justin Wellington during the New Year’s Party at the Gold Club’s Arena was the latest of achievements to start the year.
Having 17 years of experience, “I can say it was hard work and determination that brought me this far and I can’t stop thanking the guys enough that worked with me along the way and the experience that we all shared are priceless.
“A big thankyou to Yiannis and Jacquie for bringing me up and believing in me”, said Tripple-X.
