Cardi B continues to secure her legacy. The Bronx-born rap star is set to receive the prestigious ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award, celebrating her bold influence in both music and culture.

The announcement came Wednesday, May 21st, with ASCAP Chairman Paul Williams sharing high praise.

“Cardi B has left an indelible mark on the culture of hip-hop by redefining and challenging the norms for women,” he stated. “Having broken through countless barriers with her unapologetic authenticity and talent, she continues to use her voice to advocate for and inspire others, a true testament to her undeniable impact. We are proud to present Cardi B with this year’s ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award.”

The honor will be given during a private, invite-only celebration on June 8th in Los Angeles.

Cardi is no stranger to ASCAP accolades. In 2020, she made history as the first woman to win ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul Songwriter of the Year twice consecutively. Her trophy case now boasts eight ASCAP Pop Music Awards and 23 Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.

The recognition comes while Cardi builds buzz around her long-awaited second album. She recently shared that bundle deals were part of the hold up, as well as guest features.
