WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT)—Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is holding a series of free, open-to-the-public lectures this month.
CFCC is presenting the Spring Humanities Lecture Series featuring Hip-Hop 101: The Cultural Origin and Societal Evolution of Mainstream Hip-Hop. The lecture will explore hip-hop’s history and significance as well as its evolution and role in shaping identity and community.
Brandon “Bigg B” Hickman, renowned pop culture historian and program director for WMNX—COAST 97.3 and WDAI – Kiss 98.5, will lead the discussion.
“We are excited to have Bigg B share his knowledge and passion for hip-hop with our students and the community,” said Sandra McClammy, CFCC Humanities Instructor and event organizer. “This event offers a unique opportunity to delve into the roots of hip-hop and its lasting influence on culture and society.” The Spring Humanities Lecture Series is free and open to the public.
The lecture will be held on Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in CFCC”s Union Station.
