Cougar dancers prepare for state

First-year head coach Megan Oliphant and the Cascade dance team will head to the Iowa State Dance & Drill Team Association’s (ISDTA) state dance competition, Thursday, Dec. 5, in Des Moines. The Cougars will perform their hip hop routine at 8:15 a.m. at the Wells Fargo Arena and their pom routine at 7:03 p.m. in Hy-Vee Hall C.

“This group of young ladies has worked exceptionally hard this year as they had a three-month late start to their season while waiting for new coaches to be hired,” Oliphant said. “Jessica Smock and I had to hit the ground running, building the team from only four returning members. ISDTA requires a minimum of six dancers for a team to be eligible to compete at the state contest in Des Moines. We have two young ladies on our team who have either never danced or haven’t danced in high school and you’d never know it.”
