On August 10, the sounds of DJ D-Nice will fill the air at a Kamala Harris rally in Las Vegas. The rally is part of a broader campaign push as Harris and her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, work to galvanize support across key states. DJ D-Nice, whose real name is Derrick Jones, rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic with his virtual “Club Quarantine” parties, which brought people together in a time of isolation. Now, he’s channeling that same energy to unite voters behind the Harris/Walz ticket.

“I am thrilled to support the Harris/Walz campaign in Las Vegas on Saturday,” DJ D-Nice shared on Instagram. “Music has always been a powerful force for unity, and I truly believe that, just like music, their vision can bring our country together. Let’s create a harmonious future where everyone feels included and inspired.”

DJ D-Nice’s Relationship with Harris

This isn’t the first time DJ D-Nice and Kamala Harris have crossed paths. Last September, DJ D-Nice was a guest at a celebration hosted by Harris in honor of the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop. The event, held at the Vice President’s official residence, was a star-studded affair, with over 400 guests, including rap icons like Common, Lil Wayne, and Slick Rick. Harris, who has long been a vocal supporter of Hip-Hop culture, spoke passionately about its impact on American society. “Hip-Hop is the ultimate American art form,” she declared. “It is music and melody and rhyme. But it’s also an ethos of strength and self-determination, of ambition and aspiration, of pride, power, and purpose. Hip-Hop is a celebration of Black joy, freedom, and liberation.”

Harris’ campaign has consistently harnessed the power of music to connect with voters. Recently, Megan Thee Stallion performed at a rally in Atlanta, where Harris kicked off her campaign to the sounds of Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar’s “Freedom.”
