The Baller Alert Show finale spotlighted some of Atlanta’s most recognized and respected EDM and open format DJs: DJ EU, Jay Envy, and Weponz. The trio sat down with hosts Ferrari Simmons and BT to discuss the evolution of their careers, the art of reading a room, and how they maintain relevance across both the nightlife and corporate spaces.
DJ EU, originally from Puerto Rico and based in Atlanta, is the creator of “Candela,” one of the city’s most successful Latin parties. Launched in 2018, Candela has consistently brought in diverse crowds and high energy without relying heavily on guest DJs. EU shared how his transition from strictly Latin DJing to open format was a strategic pivot that helped broaden his audience and build longevity in a competitive market.

Jay Envy, an Atlanta native, emphasized the importance of versatility. Starting in hip-hop, Envy now spins everywhere from underground parties to upscale clubs and even Falcons games. He’s created his own lane by blending top 40, house, and R&B into sets that keep Atlanta crowds moving.
Weponz, a California transplant, spoke on the importance of not being boxed into one genre. With roots in house parties and the car show scene, his transition into open format came after advice from a fellow DJ who encouraged him to expand his reach. Now he’s known for his ability to adapt and keep dance floors alive regardless of the audience.
The DJs also touched on common struggles within the industry, including challenges in getting paid fairly, maintaining professional standards, and dealing with an oversaturated market. Their advice for up-and-coming DJs? Stand out by putting in the work, respecting the craft, and reading the room—a skill many new DJs lack.
They also discussed mental health, emphasizing balance, support systems, and the importance of keeping personal and professional lives separate. Whether rocking massive crowds or low-key private gigs, EU, Envy, and Weponz have figured out how to remain booked, balanced, and respected in the game.
