Dr. Dre Left Puzzled By Australian Breakdancer’s Viral Olympic Routine: “What The F**k?”

Dr. Dre has weighed in on the viral Olympic breakdance routine that’s captured the world’s attention due to the inept moves of its performer.

The legendary producer recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Australian breakdance competitor Rachael “Raygun” Gunn’s lackluster showing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, in which she appeared to have little to no experience in the genre.

According to Dre, the sight of Gunn’s awkward dance moves were unimpressive and the competition would’ve been better served had another dancer with more skill and experience had taken her place.

“I did not like that,” the Grammy Award winner, who also performed at the games, told the outlet. “It’s so many great breakdancers that I don’t know why they had this particular person doing that.”

While Dre found Gunn’s display as amusing, he remained perplexed as to how the Australian team could have allowed such a bizarre performance to occur, particularly at such a high-profile and prestigious event.

“It was funny, I got some laughs out of it, but what the f**k?” the 59-year-old added. “There are incredible breakdancers out right now; I don’t know how that happened.”

Gunn, who holds a PhD in dance, was subjected to widespread ridicule as a result of her performance during the B-Girls Round Robin last week, with many making light of her dance moves, which were a far cry from traditional Hip-Hop dance moves the public is accustomed to.

However, despite the criticism levied upon her, Gunn defended her routine, stating that her goal was to give attendees and viewers an innovative performance. “What I wanted to do was come out here and do something new and different and creative — that’s my strength, my creativity,” the dancer told ESPN.

“I was never going to beat these girls on what they do best, the dynamic and the power moves, so I wanted to move differently, be artistic and creative because how many chances do you get in a lifetime to do that on an international stage?”

Gunn ultimately lost all three of her one-on-one contests during the Olympic breakdancing competition, by a total margin of 54-0.
