Fetty Wap will release his first song since he was sent to prison two years ago.
On Wednesday, May 7, the New Jersey rapper’s camp announced his new single “Forever (71943509)” will arrive on Friday. In an Instagram post, they revealed the cover art and a message about the record and his fight to get a pardon or sentence commutation from President Donald Trump.
“His freedom was taken, but not his voice,” the announcement said. “A raw, emotional track straight from Fetty Wap’s heart. This isn’t just music — it’s his truth, his story, and his fight.”
This will be Fetty Wap’s first solo release since he was sentenced to serve six years in prison for conspiracy to distribute cocaine. Fetty Wap, born Willie Junior Maxwell II, and five other associates were accused of buying cocaine in Long Island and selling it in New York and New Jersey. The “MY Way” rapper and his crew allegedly sold over 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine from June 2019 to June 2020.
Fetty Wap was arrested for the drug charge at Citi Field before his set at Rolling Loud New York in October 2021, and was released a month later on a $500,000 bond. However, he reportedly violated the terms of his release when he allegedly waved a gun at someone during a FaceTime call and threatened to kill them. The 33-year-old artist pleaded guilty to the charge in August 2022.
“Forever” comes two years after Fetty Wap dropped his King Zoo project. The 17-track album includes the stand-out single “1738” featuring Coi Leray. Look out for Fetty’s new song dropping this Friday.
