A street artwork depicting Donald Trump behind bars has appeared in the Gorbals.
The gold and black street art piece, situated at the back of the Brazen Head Pub, shows the former US president imprisoned in an upturned American flag with MAGA written on the side. It turns out it’s the latest from the Glasgow artist behind some of the city’s best-known artworks, Ashley Rawson, who is taking to the streets to create thought-provoking temporary pieces for his latest project.
It’s the second street piece from the artist, who recently unveiled Gutter Politics, a temporary art installation on Buchanan Street created using gold tape to transform a drain on the street.
Dubbed ‘Make America Great Again’, the latest piece is a painted mural on a railway arch on the A728 road that sees the controversial US presidential candidate behind bars and is a little more permanent than Gutter Politics which was made using gold tape and was only designed to last a week.

Ash said: “Here’s my latest piece of street art, I’ve imprisoned Mr Trump. I think he’s allowed visitors if you want to see him before someone inevitably spray paints over my artwork (though fingers crossed they won’t).”
The artist is known for his more famous artworks including ‘The Best Fans in the World’ painting dedicated to the Scottish fans who travelled hundreds of miles to support their country during the Euros 2024, and a piece of actress Kirsty Paterson dressed as an Oompa Loompa wearing an orange traffic cone on her head, which was a nod to the now infamous viral Willy Wonka experience.
