{KXLG – Watertown, SD} The talented students of Grace Dance Academy will share a special story through their 2025 Spring Student Showcase, “This Beautiful Life,” on May 30th and 31st at Watertown High School’s D.D. Miller Auditorium. The performance will follow a grandmother’s life journey, told through the expressive movements of the young dancers as they share her memories with their granddaughter.
For Carly Buri, who founded Grace Dance Academy in 2019, the showcase is about more than just steps. “To me, dance is about telling a story with your body, and that is exactly what I want my students to do,” she said.
Over 270 dancers will bring this story to life, showcasing various styles they have learned at the academy, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and more.
This year’s performance holds special meaning as it is dedicated to Carly and her sister, as well as co-director Carolyn Meiergerd’s father, George Fraher, who passed away in October 2024. In his memory, Grace Dance Academy will award a scholarship during the show and announce their new ongoing scholarship program.
Carolyn said, “He instilled in his children the principles of hard work and living life to the fullest. Carly and I hope to allow all dancers to experience how dance and expression through movement help in all areas of life.”
Tickets for the 6th Annual showcase will be available starting May 21. Check them out on social media for more information.
