Graffiti artists swarm the wrecked garbage truck on I-10 ramp in NOLA: ‘How’s my driving?’

Graffiti is, of course, illegal, and sometimes dangerous. Yet, there are times when it just seems to perfectly address the moment.

On May 19, a blue trash truck somehow tipped over while climbing an entrance ramp leading to Interstate 10 near South Carrollton Avenue. Like a turtle on its back, there it lies to this day, seemingly jammed between the concrete guardrail and the girders that hold up the roadway.

On Wednesday, the highway access ramp remained closed to traffic, to the consternation of westward commuters.

Fearless graffiti writers have decorated the wrecked trash truck on the I-10 entrance ramp near S. Carrollton Avenue.

But the ramp was apparently still accessible to daredevil graffiti writers who targeted the trapped blue truck. One of the spray paint-wielding smart alecks wrote the words “How’s my driving?” on the body of the truck.

It’s hard to say who exactly is responsible for the tongue-in-cheek taunt because the truck is tagged with several aerosol autographs.

The open books sketched on the walls of the vehicle are often associated with a secretive street artist known as READ. On the rear of the truck is the tag HARSH, which was ubiquitous during the post-Katrina recovery era.

The initials TM, which have long symbolized the graffiti group Top Mob, are also visible. As is the stylish tag SANK – which includes a curlicue on the leg of the K that lends a certain lightheartedness to the vandalism.
