Graffiti at Former Bikes and Hikes Space Has Been Reported and Removed – WEHO TIMES West Hollywood News, Nightlife and Events

The spray paint building at 8500 Santa Monica Boulevard was reported and immediately painted over on Friday. The graffiti was left by former tenants Bikes and Hikes which moved to a new location in West Hollywood. Some community members were up and arms when they say the space boarded up with plywood, the awning was ripped off from it’s storefront and spray paint on the walls announcing their move to their new location at 7740 Santa Monica Boulevard.

WeHo Times readers said the place had been vandalized, and expressed there should be consequences for leaving the space looking like it was condemned.

“That’s how he treats the community that supports his business?” Wrote John Cleese. “I hope he reconsiders his actions and paints it over promptly. If he doesn’t, criminal and civil sanctions are justified.”

“Interesting that they think it is ok to vandalize their former location as they did,” wrote Sam. “They need to be cited for the blight they left.”

“Love that they have a new better location, and I have supported them many times when I needed parts for my bike, but the city should absolutely fine them for the way they left the building,” wrote Diego Tenoch

Then there were those who didn’t think it was a big deal.

“Cited for vandalism, are you kidding me!?” Wrote John M Beeler.

“It’s fine, everyone chill,” wrote Richard Daherty.

“That building is literally being knocked down,” wrote @lizzyinlala. “Who is complaining about letting customers know where to go? 😂”

Whether community members believed it was vandalized or not, several requests were made for graffiti removal at that location. By Friday afternoon, the graffiti was painted over, but the space is still somewhat of an eyesore.

The new Bikes and Hikes moved to the West Hollywood mid-city area, next door to the former Studs Theater (formerly known as the Tom Kat Theater, but more famously remembered as The Pussycat Theater). Though the new home is slightly smaller, the upside to their move, according to Jason Bowers, the General Manager, is that they are no longer renters and have actually purchased the property they now reside in.
