Some graffiti in Burlington will start disappearing this month due to an effort by a local arts organization to remove it.

Arts So Wonderful, a nonprofit organization that operates an art gallery at University Mall in South Burlington and is involved in the creation of murals in downtown Burlington, is staging its “Spring Up Graffiti Clean Up” from 9-11 a.m. and 1-5 p.m. Thursday, May 15 in downtown Burlington.

Those interested in taking part in the cleanup are invited to meet at Thorsen Lane off the Church Street Marketplace. Supplies and refreshments will be provided.

Graffiti has been painted on a number of high-profile, now-vacant buildings in the center of Burlington, including Memorial Auditorium, the former YMCA and the recently-closed Merrill’s Roxy Cinema.
