POUGHKEEPSIE – A 41-year-old aspiring artist has been arrested and charged with misdemeanors after being caught spray-painting his tag on a Main Street building. Richard Bulson, 41, of the Town of Poughkeepsie is known for his illegal artistic expression, having spent a week in Beacon last year spray-painting several buildings with his “EVAK” tag. He was arrested in September by Beacon police and charged with three misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and three misdemeanor counts of making graffiti.
On March 26, 2025, City of Poughkeepsie cops responded to a report of someone spray-painting a building at 289 Main Street. Arriving officers located Bulson at the scene and took him into custody. Poughkeepsie police had already been looking for the graffiti artist after the EVAK tag began appearing on buildings, dumpsters, and other property throughout the city that Bulson does not own or have permission to use as his canvas. The signature tags have also been observed in other locations throughout the county.
Bulson’s latest session resulted in him being charged with misdemeanors of making graffiti and possession of graffiti instruments.
The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department is asking anyone with information on the EVAK tagger or whose property has been vandalized with this or similar graffiti to contact the department at 845-451-7577.
