Greek Australian artist Eirini Alligiannis is bringing her photography book “Art on the Wall” and a complementary exhibition to Sydney following a successful New York debut, The Greek Herald reports. The event is set for Friday, January 31, at 6.30 p.m. at The Shop Gallery in Glebe, NSW.

Described as a tribute to street art, “Art on the Wall” combines Alligiannis’ photography skills and passion for urban culture, capturing the transient beauty of murals and graffiti. The book features vivid images from 5 Pointz, the iconic graffiti hub in Long Island City, Queens, New York, documenting its artistic and cultural significance.

“I’m thrilled to bring Art on the Wall to Sydney, where my journey as an artist began,” Alligiannis told The Greek Herald. “This book is a celebration of creativity and cultural expression, and I hope it inspires others to see the beauty in street art and the stories it tells.”

The exhibition will showcase selected photographs from the book, offering audiences a glimpse into the vibrant colors and intricate designs of 5 Pointz murals. Attendees will also hear about Alligiannis’ experiences documenting the site, including collaborations with prominent street artists and breakdancers.

The opening night will feature live music from a DJ and refreshments.

Born and raised in Sydney to Greek immigrant parents, Alligiannis has built a notable career as a digital media artist, filmmaker, and photographer. Her work has been exhibited in New York, Paris, and Sydney, earning her international recognition.
