Tory Lanez is lucky to be alive after being shanked in prison yesterday morning, as the rapper suffered 14 puncture wounds, resulting in both of his lungs collapsing.
Tory Lanez’s Team Releases Statement About Stabbing
On Monday night (May 12), hours after news broke that Lanez had been attacked by an inmate at the California Correctional Institution, his team released a statement on Instagram.
“Tory was stabbed 14 times — including 7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face,” the statement reads below. “Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. He is now breathing on his own. Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through. He also wants to thank everyone for the continued prayers and support.”
Video has also surfaced that purports to show Tory on a stretcher being put into a helicopter to be transferred to the hospital below.

Prison Releases Statement About Tory Lanez Stabbing
A spokesperson for the California Correctional Institution has released the following statement to XXL about Tory Lanez being stabbed by another inmate yesterday morning.
“At approximately 7:20 a.m. today, Daystar Peterson was attacked by another inmate at a housing unit in the California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi,” the statement reads. “Staff immediately responded, activated 911 and began medical aid. Peterson was subsequently transported to an outside medical facility for further treatment. An investigation has been initiated by CCI’s Investigative Services Unit and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office. The Office of the Inspector General has been notified.”
The motive for the attack has not been revealed. Tory is currently serving a 10-year sentence after being found guilty in December of 2022 of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. He recently announced new music on Instagram.
