Hip-Hop culture the focus of Beloit College exhibit

BELOIT — Beloit College’s Wright Museum of Art and student-run Gallery ABBA is presenting “Day One DNA: 50 Years in Hip-Hop Culture,” featuring over 200 artifacts from the private collection of hip-hop legends Ice T and DJ Afrika Islam now on display through Nov. 16.

A reception is scheduled for 4 — 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Wright Museum at 700 College St., and at the Gallery ABBA, 437 E. Grand Ave. Curated by Laylah Amatullah Barrayn, this exhibition offers a deep dive into the cultural, political, and economic influences that have shaped hip-hop over the last five decades.
