Christmas weekend in the Upstate has a variety of activities, such as the Swamp Rabbits game, Rondal Clay Johnson’s performance at Gather GVL or an Elf training camp for kids. There’s also a hip-hop Nutcracker performance for adults.
Below are some events taking place this weekend in the Upstate.
Skating on the Big Ice
Go Skating on the Big Ice at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville through Dec. 30.
Lace up your skates, hit the big ice, and enjoy the fun. The rink is open for all ages to practice skills, skate for fitness, or just enjoy skating while listening to music.
Tickets include access to the ice during scheduled two-hour windows. Concessions will be available for purchase. The price of admission includes skate rental and ice walkers based on availability.
Helmets and safety gear are recommended for beginner skaters, all sessions are skate at your own risk.
Free parking is available in the VIP Lot off of Church Street. Entry to public skating is located in the loading dock below the VIP lot.
Tickets are limited availability per session at $15 per person. Price of admission includes skate rental. Credit and Debit Cards Only. No cash is accepted. Spectators do not need tickets. To secure your spot, please purchase it in advance.

Ice skating in Greenville, Anderson
While it’s unlikely we’ll see a white Christmas in the Upstate, residents and visitors won’t have to miss out on all the winter weather fun.
Holiday ice skating rinks are already starting to open near the Upstate and more are set to open in the next couple of weeks. These outdoor ice rinks bring a festive look to their towns and offer skate rentals so beginners can enjoy the fun.

Swamp Rabbits vs Jacksonville Icemen holiday game
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits will take on the Jacksonville Icemen in a holiday game on Saturday, December 28.
This matchup will be held at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena at 650 N Academy St. in Greenville.
The puck drops at 7:05 p.m., so grab your tickets.
Before the game kicks off, watch the Swamp Rabbits head out onto the ice in a front-wheel drive sleigh.
Tickets range from $31 to $41.
Rondal Clay Johnson
Rondal Clay Johnson takes the stage at Gather GVL on Saturday, December 28, at 126 Augusta St. in Greenville.
The performance begins at 1:30 p.m. and is free for all to enjoy.
Hip Hop Nutcracker
Head to Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium for The Hip Hop Nutcracker for a modern twist on a holiday classic.
This performance takes place on Friday, December 27, at 8 p.m. and features a fusion of hip-hop dance and Tchaikovsky’s timeless music.
Tickets range from $26 to $76.
Clay Johnson at Fretwell
Clay Johnson will perform at Frewell in Spartanburg on Friday, December 27, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Known for his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, he is also the lead singer and songwriter of Clay Johnson and the Hard Promises.
General admission is free.
Elf Training Camp
Elf training camp by Kid City Anderson is a magical experience for children on December 26 and 27 at 1520 E. Greenville St. in Anderson.
This camp allows young kids to engage in festive crafts and elf-approved activities.
The morning session is designed for children aged 18 months to 3 years and runs from 9 a.m. to noon. It costs $25 per day.
For parents seeking extended care, the camp offers an option that includes lunch and lasts until 1:30 p.m. for $35 per day.
This enchanting camp provides a delightful opportunity for young ones to indulge in holiday cheer and creativity.
For children aged 4 to 12, the Elf Training Camp offers a full-day session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members can attend for $35 per day, while non-members pay $45.
Alternatively, a half-day option from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. is available for $15 per day, with the possibility of extended care, including lunch until 1:30 p.m., for an additional $25 per day.
Chris Wayne at Magnetic South
Magnetic South Brewery will host a beer and vintage rock ‘n’ roll night in downtown Anderson. This will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, December 27.
Along with originals, Chris Wayne plays Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, and Little Richard songs.
