Hit-Boy has confirmed that his father and collaborator, Big Hit, has been sent to prison. On Wednesday (Oct. 23), the Grammy award-winning producer took to Instagram, where he posted a heartfelt message to his followers about his dad.

Sharing a FaceTime video he had with his father, the Surf or Drown artist revealed that Big Hit is currently behind bars and even explained why he was releasing so much music with his dad over the past year and a half. However, the producer admitted that his father’s future is unclear, and he didn’t disclose why his pops has returned back to prison.

“People used to ask me what I on dropping so much music and moving around with my pops so much, in the back of my mind the paranoia of him going back was always there, and here we are,” Hit-Boy typed. “We don’t know what the future holds, but Big Hit sends his love to all his supporters. He recorded over 700 songs when he was out, so we got more music otw.”

During an interview with Men’s Health, Big Hit opened up about spending most of his adult life behind bars. Hit-Boy’s father expressed that he served a 15-year sentence in federal prison after “being caught with 10 kilos of cocaine, ten guns, and $300,000 in cash.” After six years of freedom, the father returned to prison for a 12-year bid stemming from a hit-and-run incident.

“I felt guilty about not being out of prison and missing his success,” he told the outlet. “I always wrote letters to him, assuring him, ‘I’m trying to get back to you. I love you, and I miss you.’”

Since being free from prison in 2023, Hit-Boy and Big Hit released a slew of music, including the criminally underrated album Black & Whites, alongside the Alchemist.
