Kanye West reportedly played songs from both Diddy and R. Kelly back to back during a DJ set attended by producer Mike Hector. Hector posted updates from the event on social media over the weekend. In one post on X (formerly Twitter) caught by HipHopDX, he wrote: “I’m at this party and kanye djing. he played 2 diddy songs and then a r kelly song right after. this n***a do not give a f*ck.” He also apparently played songs from Prince, Eurythmics, The Eagles, JAY-Z, and more.
West previously referenced R. Kelly and Diddy consecutively on his Vultures 1 single, “Carnival.” He rapped: “Anybody pissed off, gotta make ’em drink the urine / Now I’m Ye-Kelly, b*tch, now, I’m Bill Cosby, b*tch / Now, I’m Puff Daddy rich, that’s #MeToo me rich.”

West has supported the art of controversial artists countless times in recent years. Back in 2019, he addressed separating the art from the artist during a Sunday Service performance. “Everybody, they want the art from the artist, but anytime they do anything erratic, they just gonna pull up full documentaries on ’em. And then they gonna come with the Michael [Jackson] documentary,” he said at the time. “We can enjoy all their music all we want. I thought I wasn’t going to go there today but uh … If we gon’ tear down artists, let’s go ahead and take [Leonardo] da Vinci out the Louvre while we at it. Let’s take down all the art.”
