“The statue depicts a golden Prop-master, elevated up in his DJ booth over looking his Harlem Community, in mid DJ mix scratching and blending the golden era of Hip Hop while introducing the latest from underground Hip Hop groups,” according to Banfield’s IG page. “His radio mixes are legendary, often recorded on cassette tapes for playback, which in turn migrated the sound and culture to unknown parts of the country without access to the latest Hip Hop acts.”
Banfield has also created similar statues of LL COOL J in Queens, and The Notorious B.I.G. in Brooklyn. Check out Red’s statue above,
