In an interview with TMZ last week, Method Man clarified the difference between hip-hop and Diddy’s case. According to the award-winning entertainer, the 54-year-old mogul’s situation is not connected to the culture. It is not hip-hop that is involved in Diddy’s allegation, Meth told the press.
“People are saying this is the end of hip-hop as we know it,” a NYC reporter told Method Man.
In connection with Diddy’s arrest earlier this week in Midtown Manhattan, where he was charged with sex trafficking and racketeering, the statement was made. His decades of setting trends made him one of the faces of hip-hop culture.

Disagreeing with the statement, Johnny Blaze replied: “I don’t think it has anything to do with Hip-Hop, what are we talking about here, really…? It (Diddy’s arrest) has nothing to do with Hip-Hop … at all. So, I don’t see the correlation whatsoever. If we’re talking about creative and stuff like that … They’re are people still listening to R. Kelly’s sh*t.” I don’t think it has anything to do with Hip-Hop.”
The veteran recording artist from Staten Island first rose to fame as a member of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan in the mid-90s. He signed a solo deal with Def Jam and released his debut album, Tical, in 1994. He continues to perform with Wu-Tang Clan who recently performed on a Staten Island ferry for Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2025 fashion show.
On the Tam’ron Hall show, Meth discussed what it means to be a “sex symbol.” He has always downplayed the term because he simply wants respect.
He told the talk show host: “Imma show it off while I still got it, but here’s thing, right. I love the admiration. I love it. Does it get awkward at times… absolutely! Sometimes you just want to blend in with everybody else and I’m that type of person.”
