“Mods ban that guy” – Internet in disbelief as Travis Hunter tells Lil Wayne his fiancée put him on to his music

Travis Hunter, superstar of the Colorado Buffaloes and now the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, gave a memorable acceptance speech that fans are talking about for more than just his heartfelt thanks.

In between tears and thanks to family and teammates, Hunter dropped a revelation that confused the Internet. He stated that he only started listening to Lil Wayne’s music recently, thanks to his fiancée.

Hunter said,

“Wayne, you don’t know how you came into our life, man. My fiancée loves you. I didn’t know none of your songs until she let me know because I don’t listen to music.”

Lil Wayne, sitting close to the stage as one of Hunter’s supporters, looked very moved during the tribute. But for fans who had assumed Hunter was a longtime listener of the rap icon, the confession was seen as a sudden surprise. One fan posted:

Fans of both the stars are left surprised and a little disappointed with Hunter. While most of the internet users had this to say.

“Nah man not knowing the greatest rapper alive as a black man until your Mexican girlfriend told you is wild….” social media user pointed out.

“He bouta p*ss me off ” an online user noted

For his music, Wayne has won multiple Grammys, and platinum albums and produced hits after hits, such as “Lollipop,” “A Mill,” “Go DJ” and many more. His mixtapes, in particular his ‘Tha Carter’ series revolutionized hip hop by merging sophisticated lyrics with creative beats (Black music scholar).

Therefore, there is doubt behind why fans are finding it hard to believe Travis Hunter’s statement Considering Lil Wayne’s accomplishments and fame.
