The Youth Department of Denia City Council has launched the 2025 Muralism Competition, an initiative aimed at encouraging the participation of young creators in the world of graffiti and quality urban art, fostering these disciplines as means of cultural and artistic expression. The theme of the competition will revolve around the concept of youth.
“Through the Youth Department, we want to create opportunities for young talent, provide space for urban creativity and, at the same time, beautify our city with messages that resonate with the perspectives and concerns of young people,” highlighted the youth councillor, Valen Alcalà.
The competition is open to anyone aged over 16. Registration is completely free and will remain open until 28 July 2025.
To enter, participants must submit the registration form, sketches or draft designs of the proposed works, explicit authorisation to take part in the competition, and consent for the processing of images and personal data included in the form.
Applications can be found at the Youth building and on the municipal electronic headquarters, under the section “Catalogue of procedures”. They can be submitted:
- Electronically, via the “Urban art competition registration” procedure (https://sede.denia.es/sta/carpetapublic/doevent?app_code=sta&page_code=catalogo&lang=ca).
- In person, at the OAC (Plaza Constitució, 10), by appointment only. Opening hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 2 pm, and Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm. Appointments can be requested via the municipal website, by phone at 96 646 70 09, or by email at oac@ayto-denia.es.
- By post, sending the documents to Ajuntament de Dénia (Plaza Constitució, 10, 03700 Dénia).
The winning murals will be painted from 8 to 10 August 2025, and five prizes will be awarded based on the space allocated: €1,500 for Space 1; €1,000 for Space 2 and Space 3; and €750 for Space 4 and Space 5.
“This competition not only recognises the creativity of young artists but also transforms Dénia into a living canvas, where street art becomes a channel for social and generational dialogue,” said Alcalà.
