Mystery as underpass gets Minions makeover from ‘Lancashire Banksy’

A mystery artist has given an underpass a comical makeover – by painting a row of minions.

The yellow cartoon characters were graffitied onto seven posts at the bridge on the Leeds Liverpool canal, between Rosegrove and Hapton last weekend.

The artwork depicts Minions – lovable characters from the Despicable Me franchise.

The iconic characters are known for their comedic behavior and unintelligible language.

The graffiti is being enjoyed by adults and children alike with one woman likening the artist to mystery street artist, Banksy.

Nicola Leverton said: “So who is the Lancashire Banksy? Hats off to the absolute legend who painted these.

“My three-year-old, and me, love them.”

Another person said: “Love this – we walk past here quite often. Should be done under all motorway bridges.”

Bridie Jane wrote: “It’s brilliant my little girl HATES this bit! It goes darker, echo’s bit gloomy for a child….. she actually says ohh noo mama at this bit! Now!? She loves this bit! Says Hi to each one! And doesn’t winge at this bit anymore! Thank you to the artist it’s fantastic!”

Vanessa Williams commented: “Love this! Better than the usual graffiti that’s usually on there.”

Carl Howarth added: “Let’s hope that we see alot more in certain places where it is run down and with some of there graffiti art they could make it look alot better.”
