The wait was finally over for episode 3 of Dancing With the Stars season 33, after its release was delayed because of a vice-presidential debate airing on ABC. The episode released on October 7 followed a Soul Train Night theme, inspired by the 90s musical show of the same name.
Chandler Kinney and her Dancing With the Stars pro partner Brandon Armstrong’s performance was even more anticipated because of their show-stealing performances on episodes 1 and 2. For their third performance, they chose the Cha Cha genre, fused it with Hip Hop, and grooved to the song It’s Tricky by Run-DMC.
Not only did they impress the judges, but also took over the hearts of the audience. They became the highest-rated duo of the episode with a score of 36 out of 40 and were widely praised by Dancing With the Star fans on social media sites such as X as well.
“THAT CHA CHA, HIP-HOP FUSION FROM BRANDON?! PHENOMENAL CHOREOGRAPHY. CHANDLER IS INCREDIBLE. #DWTS this is what happens when we give Brandon a talented partner, WE GET MAGIC!!!” one fan said.

“Watching Chandler dance makes me want to get up and shimmy. What a vibe,” another fan said.

Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong’s closing performance on episode 3 of Dancing With the Stars season 33
Chandler and Brandon were on the top of the scoreboard in the two previous episodes of Dancing With the Stars season 33 as well. Their premiere night performance was a Tango on HOT TO GO by Chapell Roan, while their second week’s Oscar Night theme performance was a Rumba on the current popular What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish.
For their third performance, they went with a fusion of Cha-Cha and Hip-Hop and got a score of 9 from all four judges, including the guest judge, actress Rosie Perez. Carrie Ann liked their partnership and their vibe. Rosie said their performance did appropriate justice to the Soul Train Night theme, she advised Chandler to let her “s*xuality explode”.
Derek praised Brandon’s choreography and told Chandler she danced really hard. Bruno said their dancing techniques were appropriate and that Chandler had huge star quality. Each of them then proceeded to give them a 9 giving them the total of 36.
