MCPS recently highlighted Blake High School student Phillip PremDas, who at just 14 years old has achieved what many dancers only aspire to. He recently completed an exciting stint on “Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time Tour,” which traveled to 20 cities across the United States.
Philip PremDas– known on stage as Philly2Fly– was one of only five young dancers chosen for this prestigious national tour and the sole representative from the Washington DC area, according to MCPS. “It was incredibly fun,” PremDas shared, reflecting on his experience. “Performing on stage almost every night in front of thousands of people is something special.”
Premdas recently wrote the following in an Instagram post:
I spent this Thanksgiving reflecting on how truly blessed I am. I’m so grateful for everyone who supports me, especially my parents and sister, who always encourage me to keep pushing. Thank you, God, for the strength to stay focused and live in my purpose.
A year ago, I set two big goals: get signed by a dance agency and be nominated for the Monsters show cast, all while staying focused on school. With so much gratitude, I can say l’ve achieved those goals-signed with BLOC NYC & LA, a proud alum of the Monster show, and now on tour with Mariah Carey.
I’m also thankful for keeping straight A’s!
This year has been more than I could’ve imagined, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. Wishing everyone a Thanksgiving full of love, gratitude, and blessings!
Although I’m sad I didn’t get to spend this Thanksgiving with my family, I’m incredibly grateful to be spending it with my MC Christmas Time Tour family. You all have made this experience so special, and I truly feel blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people. I love you all and am thankful for each of you every day.
MCPS shared that PremDas signed with Bloc Agency (NY and LA) for commercial dance and print work, PremDas got the chance to audition for the tour in Los Angeles. His journey with the agency began after competing in national competitions and hip-hop conventions, including Monsters Dance, known for its highly competitive selection process and status as a premier event for dancers of all ages.
Maintaining a 3.8 GPA as a 9th grader, PremDas skillfully balances his academic responsibilities with his passion for dance, often completing assignments after rehearsals and working closely with his teachers.
He has achieved first-place honors in regional hip-hop competitions, is a two-time national champion in both solo and duet categories, and received scholarships at the Monsters and KAOS hip-hop dance conventions in Reston, Virginia. He was also selected as one of just nine dancers aged 14 and under for the 2024 Monsters of Hip Hop Show – The Vision.
PremDas has trained with some of the industry’s leading figures, including Debbie Allen, Luam Keflezgy, and the Les Twins. He dreams of becoming a world-touring professional artist, choreographer, and hip-hop dancer, with aspirations of sharing the stage with Chris Brown.
