Newman Catholic of Mason City won Class II Hip Hop and New Hampton placed fourth in Class V Hip Hop on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association championship at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Newman received 358 points out of a possible 400 from the four judges for its victory. North Cedar claimed seventh place in Class II with 332 points.
New Hampton received 345.5 points to earn the fourth-place trophy in Class V, which was won by Monticello with 364.5. Union of LaPorte City took 11th with 316.5.
