Jayson Scott, the son of Grammy-nominated recording artist Remy Ma, and 22-year-old Richard Swygert have been charged with first-degree murder.
2x Emmy award-winning journalist and Hot 97’s Street Soldiers correspondent Lisa Evers broke the news on Wednesday morning (June 19) via X. Remy Ma has not commented on the situation yet.
According to Fox 5NY, Scott and Swygert’s charges are in connection with the June 7, 202, murder of 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux in Queens. A murder for hire is being investigated by investigators. The pair’s complete charges include first-degree murder, weapons possession, and reckless endangerment.
An arraignment is expected to take place in Queens County court on Wednesday.
Remy Ma served six years of an eight-year sentence in prison after she was found guilty of multiple charges, including assault and attempted coercion, in 2008. Following her release from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in 2014. Remy returned to hip-hop and has released several new albums, including a joint album with longtime collaborator Fat Joe.
Outside of music, Remy Ma has become an actor, entrepreneur, and more. In 2022, she launched her female battle rap league, Chrome 23.
Remy’s son was featured on several episodes of Love & Hip-Hop during her stint on the reality series. Remy joined the cast shortly after serving her prison term.
